Fast-tracking…what does it mean?
Posted on 30/01/2012 by admin
So it seems like everyone is talking about fast-tracking – fast-tracking your career, fast-tracking into university… but what does fast-tracking actually mean?
Well, in everyday terms it means that something can be completed in a shorter period of time. So if we relate this back to education, it means that the course is delivered at a faster pace so that you can gain the qualification sooner.
This doesn’t mean that you sacrifice quality. It will be the same industry recognised qualification, but it can be fast-tracked by having fewer vacations in the year and more intense study so students reach their goals faster.
Accelerated qualifications are great for a variety of people who just aren’t interested in the long study process. For example, someone who has finished high school and is eager to get into the workforce, or perhaps a full-time mother who wants to quickly up-skill before she returns to work, or even someone who is looking for a change of career…fast.
Fast-tracking is also a fantastic option for people who are looking for an alternative entry pathway into university. You can gain a fast-tracked Diploma in as little as 45 weeks and then transfer credits onto a University degree. The amount of credits that can be transferred will depend on how relevant the Diploma is to the University degree you are applying for. In some cases you might find that you can transfer straight into 2nd Year University.
Some providers also have credit transfer agreements with Universities so that you know how many credits will be transferred from your Diploma to your degree from the very beginning.
So a fast tracked course sounds pretty good right? Just remember that it will be more intense and will offer you less breaks in between. If you are prepared to work harder for a shorter period of time, then this option might just be the best option for you.
Martin College provides fast tracked qualifications that can get you into a job, into University or into both. Find out more martincollege.edu.au
