Is An Online Course Good For You? - Keyboard

Considering online learning?

If you are contemplating study and attending a traditional full-time course on campus isn’t possible, online learning might be the answer. Thanks to the web and modern home computers, it is now possible to enhance your skills and gain recognised qualifications through online study.

Online learning has changed the face of education by providing easy and convenient access to study for people of all ages, cultures, backgrounds and locations. Since its introduction, we have seen online education grow at a rapid pace. IBISWorld’s Online Education market research report showed that online education is growing at an annual rate of 22.4%.

So why is everyone talking about online study?

Suitability – anyone can study online, whether you are a high school graduate, a full time employee or just looking to increase your skill set.

Accessibility online learning provides a learning platform that can be accessed from anywhere, anytime. There is no commuting and no sitting in stuffy classrooms.

Flexibilityonline learning makes it possible to balance study with other work or life commitments. Study at your own pace and study morning, noon or night it’s your choice! You just need to ensure your work is complete by the due deadline.

Same qualification whether you study online or on campus you will still receive the same well regarded qualification.

Feel comfortable – you don’t have to be scared to raise your hand in this classroom. Ask the trainer anything and get a prompt response.

Support online learning still provides you with the support you need to succeed. Partake in online discussions with fellow students, call or email your trainer or attend a virtual lecture. Online learning is very interactive and you will feel part of a supportive environment.

So online learning sounds pretty good, but how do you know if it’s right for you?

  • The first step would be to find out if the course you are looking for is available online. Some online courses still require classroom components as well, so do some research to find out if the course you want is online and if it suits your needs.
  • Consider your ideal learning environment. Do you thrive in a classroom up the front with the lecturer? Do you love the feeling of walking the halls with fellow students? Do you prefer to work alone and at your own pace?  Decide what works best for you.
  • Can you effectively organise your time to ensure you allow time for study in your day. You will need to be strict with yourself to ensure you complete the necessary hours of study and submit your work on time.
  • Do you have the necessary equipment such as a laptop, internet access and a good work space to study?

Online study can be a fantastic option for many, however only you will know if it’s the best fit for you.
